Students and teacher holding certificate in front of board members

Floresville ISD announced the Teachers and Students of the Month.

Mrs. April Forde is one of two teachers recognized in February. She is a 2004 Floresville alumni.  She received her bachelor's degree from the University of the Incarnate Word, her first master's in Special Education from Schreiner University, and her second master's from Texas Tech.  She is also a certified educational diagnostician and has an EC-12 Special Education certification, but loves the classroom most.  Mrs. Forde currently teaches Special Education students in grades K - 5 and has been with Floresville ISD for six years. Her coworkers say she has a smile that lights up the campus.  She brings a positive energy to our FSE family, to our staff members, and most important to all of our kids.  Students say that she goes out of her way to make sure they have everything they need to be successful.

Mrs. Forde is married to her husband Ivan Forde.  They have two daughters: Eve, who is in third grade, and Sarah, who is in first grade. They also have a little boy named Caleb, who is 8 months old. She sometimes sings at events and was a previous mariachi performer, which she plans to continue pursuing when she retires from teaching.  She likes to spend time with her family and enjoys cleaning as it seems to help alleviate stress.

Cameron Trinidad is one of two Students of the Month. He is involved in extra curricular activities, such as Jiu-Jitsu for RMCA in Atkins (he is a blue belt with a black stripe) and club basketball with Texas Stampede. He is very active in the Sacred Heart church and is an altar server.  In school, his favorite subject is Math and his math teacher, Mr. Trevino, always challenges him.  Cameron also loves STEM with Mrs. Cragun, and mom says he can go “on and on and on about Mrs. Cragun."  He is an active member of our fifth-grade Hyper Writers team and participates in UIL events. He enjoys puzzles and playing chess in his free time.  He can tell you anything you want to  know about Michael Jordan and shares the number 23 with him on the basketball court.  Sports stats and sports commentator will most likely be a future career for him. Cameron has a new little brother who is nine months old and loves being a big brother.  Cameron’s parents read to him each night and now he carries the tradition on by reading to his baby brother each night with the family.  He enjoys being outside, riding his dirt bike, has a huge fascination with airplanes, and his goal is to be a pilot or NBA player.  His parents report that he is a good kid and makes them very proud. He is friendly and will make a friend anywhere he goes.

Avery Ascencio is the second Student of the Month. She appreciates when her mom and dad spend time with her and take time to explain things to her.  She says that when her parents take her places, they make everything fun.  She has a sister named Chloe, who is a freshman.  Avery's favorite thing about her sister is that when she is scared or anxious, her sister lets her sleep with her and is nice to her.  Avery has a dog named Sunny and loves Sunny because she is goofy. Avery enjoys volleyball and attends as many volleyball camps as she can to improve her skill. She is also taking volleyball lessons and looks forward to keep playing in school and then taking her talents to LSU. She is a Junior Catholic Daughter and is involved in community service projects and work through the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Avery helps with fundraising and enjoys giving to the church.  She is a great writer and a great singer. She took piano lessons for five years but also teaches herself when her parents print sheet music for the piano. This year, she participated in UIL and is a past member of the Hype Writers team. Her favorite subjects are reading and math. When Avery grows up, she wants to be a teacher because she feels like she would be a fun teacher.  She would play music and teach her students in fun ways.  She would like to teach reading to fourth and fifth graders.
