Texas Bluebonnet Reading Contest

Each year, a new list of 20 books are selected by the Texas Bluebonnet Award Committee. Schools and libraries around the state participate in the program, encouraging students in grades 3 - 5 to read a minimum of five books from the list. The chosen books are a variety of genres including fantasies, fairy tales, biographies, poetry, nonfiction, historical and realistic fiction.  Students at Floresville South Elementary who choose to participate in the contest must read five of the books on the list and submit their reading logs in order to vote for their favorite book.  In January, students will vote for their favorite title. The author of the book receiving the most votes is the winner of the Texas Bluebonnet Award and will be presented at the Texas Bluebonnet Award Luncheon held during the TLA Annual Conference in the spring.  Come in and check out the 2020 - 2021 Bluebonnet Books now. All of the 2020 -2021 Bluebonnet Award Nominee books can easily be found in the Bluebonnet bookcase as you enter the FSE library.
